How TheTradingRobot works
You build a robot from blocks, the builder checks it, you test it in MetaTrader 5, and you get it for the MetaTrader 5 accounts you name. This page explains each step and what you get.
We are still building it, so some screens may change before we open.
The five steps
Choose a step to see it in the builder.
Build your robot
Start from an example or a blank page. Put your rules in rows of blocks.
When
- Time of day08:00 London time
If
- ComparePrice above its 50-day average
Then
- Buywith a stop loss
- Daily loss limitSelected2% of the account
- Stop losson every trade
Tell me
- Emailwhen a trade opens
In plain words
At 08:00 London time, check the price. If it is above its 50-day average (the average price of the last 50 days), buy, with a stop loss: a price where the trade closes by itself to limit the loss. If the account loses 2% in one day, stop until tomorrow.
Let the builder check it
It will point out anything missing, in plain words, and refuse risky robots.
Ready to test. Nothing is missing.
What it checked
- Every block has its numbers filled in
- Every trade has a stop loss
- Safety limits are in place
- Trading hours use a time zone: London
- No bigger trades after a loss
- No piling up of trades against the price
What a refusal looks like
Not allowed: make the trade bigger after a loss
A robot like this can empty an account fast. Change this block to continue.
You can change the numbers in your safety limits, but you cannot delete them.
Test it for free
Download a free test copy and try it on past prices in the Strategy Tester.

What you need
MetaTrader 5 on a computer
The free trading app many brokers give you. Robots run on a computer, not in the phone app.
An account with a broker
You will need its account number when you buy your robot. Start with a demo account, which uses practice money.
A computer that stays on, or a VPS
Your robot works only while the app is open. A VPS is a computer you rent online that stays on.
What you get
When your robot is ready, you download two things from your account page:
- Your robot. It is one file for MetaTrader 5, and its name ends in .ex5.
- Its compile log. It shows Result: 0 errors, which means MetaTrader's own tool built your robot without errors.
Your robot's numbers are built into it, so there is nothing else to load. You can download it again at any time, for free.
Your rules stay yours, and you can download a copy of them at any time.
Locked to your accounts
When you buy a robot, you enter the MetaTrader 5 account numbers it may run on, for example your demo account and your live account. Your account number is the login your broker gave you.
Your robot runs only on those accounts. On any other account it does nothing: it shows a message on the chart and opens no trades. The Strategy Tester always runs it, so you can test it on past prices whatever account you use.
If you move to a new account, you can ask for an account change: we build the same robot again for the new account number. The copy you already downloaded keeps working on the old account.
Example
Your robot is locked to
- Your demo account: allowed
- Your live account: allowed
- The Strategy Tester: always allowed
- Any other account: not allowed, and it says so on the chart
Built for you, then emailed
When you buy, our build computer makes your robot for your accounts with MetaEditor, the tool that comes with MetaTrader 5. Robots are built in order, and we email you when yours is ready to download.
The longest wait is 72 hours. If your robot is not ready by then, we refund you in full without you having to ask. Until it is ready, you can cancel for a full refund.

Building
Ready to download. We email you at this point.
If a robot could not be built, we tell you by email and try again.
What it works with
Robots are made for MetaTrader 5. cTrader and MetaTrader 4 will come later.
Your MetaTrader 5 needs to be up to date: an older version cannot open a robot made with a newer one. MetaTrader usually updates itself when it starts.
Your broker must allow automated trading, and Algo Trading must be switched on in MetaTrader 5.
MetaTrader 5
Where robots run
- MetaTrader 5 for Windows
- The official MetaTrader 5 app for Mac
- A MetaTrader VPS (MQL5 VPS)
Where robots cannot run
- The MetaTrader 5 phone apps
- MetaTrader 5 in a web browser
What it costs
Building and checking your robot are free, and so is its test copy. To run a robot on your own accounts, you pay once for that robot. There is no subscription.
While we launch, getting your robot will be free too. We will announce prices at least 30 days before payments start.
In short
Pay once for each robot
- Building and checking: free
- A test copy for the Strategy Tester: free
- Downloading your robot again: free
- A changed strategy: a new robot, so a new purchase
