Terms of sale

What you buy, the price, delivery, when you can cancel, the account lock and your licence.

Version 1, written 2 October 2026

These terms apply when you get a robot from TheTradingRobot.com, whether you pay for it or get it free while we launch. Please read them before you buy. When you buy, we email you the details of your purchase with a copy of these terms.

1. Who we are

We are [not set yet: the seller's legal name], trading as TheTradingRobot.com.

  • Address: [not set yet: the seller's address]
  • Phone: [not set yet: the seller's phone number]
  • Email: support@thetradingrobot.com

TheTradingRobot.com sells software. It is not authorised or regulated by CySEC, the FCA, the CFTC/NFA or any financial regulator, does not hold client funds, and does not provide personal recommendations.

2. Who can buy

You must be 18 or over. When you create an account, you confirm that you are 18 or over, that the software runs only the rules you set, and that you are responsible for your broker, your trading account and your risk settings.

We sell only to people in the countries listed on the buy page. The country you give us at checkout must be the country where you live.

3. Your account and the builder

Building and checking a robot is free. You need an account to save your robots and to buy one. Keep your password to yourself. We will never ask for your trading password.

We may change and improve the builder. A change to the builder does not change a robot you already have.

You can delete your account whenever you like. Section 17 explains what happens when an account is closed.

4. What you buy

A purchase is one robot. The robot is a file for MetaTrader 5 (an .ex5 file) that our build computer compiles from one saved version of your strategy. It comes with its compile log, the record MetaEditor writes when it builds the file. The robot's settings are built into the file.

The robot runs only on the MetaTrader 5 account numbers you name when you buy (sections 8 and 9). You get a licence to use it on those accounts (section 10). You do not receive the robot's source code.

A changed strategy is a new robot. If you change anything that changes what the robot does, getting the changed robot is a new purchase. Moving blocks and changing labels, notes, the name or the description are not changes. To run the same robot on more accounts, you can buy it again for those accounts.

Before you pay, the buy page shows the robot's name, a plain description of its rules, the account numbers, the price and the longest wait. We email the same details to you when you buy.

5. Price and payment

The price is the one shown on the buy page when you pay, and it includes VAT. You pay once for each robot. There is no subscription.

You pay by card on Stripe's checkout page. Stripe handles your card details, and we never see your full card number.

While we launch, payments are switched off and the price is zero. You still accept these terms, we still record your purchase, and everything else in these terms applies in the same way. We will announce the date we start charging at least 30 days before it. A robot you got free keeps working on its accounts.

6. Delivery

Our build computer builds robots in the order they are bought, and robots that are bought come before free test copies. Before you buy, the buy page shows whether the build computer is on, the current wait and the longest wait.

We email you when your robot is ready to download. The longest wait is 72 hours from your order. If your robot is not ready by then, we cancel the purchase and refund you in full without you having to ask. If a build fails, we email you and try again within the same time.

Your download opens once we have sent your order confirmation. That email repeats the details shown before you paid and attaches the version of these terms you accepted.

You can download it again at any time while you have an account with us. A rebuilt robot (sections 8 and 12) gets a new file name, so it never replaces a copy that is running on a chart.

Consumers who buy online usually have 14 days to cancel. Before you pay, you tick a box to ask us to start building your robot straight away, within that 14-day period, and to accept that you lose your right to cancel once your robot is ready to download.

Until your robot is ready to download, you can cancel in your account at every stage and get a full refund. This includes while it waits for our build computer, while it is being built and after a failed build. Once it is ready to download, you cannot cancel the purchase. You keep your legal rights if the robot is faulty (section 13).

8. Account numbers and account changes

Your MetaTrader 5 account number is the number MetaTrader calls the login. You can name up to 2 account numbers in one purchase, in any mix of demo, live and prop firm accounts. The robot treats demo and live accounts alike.

An account change rebuilds the same robot for a different account number. You can make up to 3 account changes for each purchase. Any charge for a change is shown before you confirm it. A change waits for our build computer in the same queue as a purchase.

The copy you already downloaded keeps working on the old account. We cannot switch it off, so in practice an account change adds an account rather than moving one.

If you typed an account number wrongly, we correct it free, once for each purchase, if you ask within [not set yet: the days allowed to correct a mistyped account number] days of buying. A correction does not count as an account change.

Please check your account numbers before you buy. A robot locked to a wrong number does nothing on your account.

9. The account lock

The account lock is a technical protection measure. The robot runs only on the MetaTrader 5 accounts you name. The Strategy Tester always runs it, so you can test it on past prices.

On any other account, the robot does nothing. It opens no trades, shows no chart buttons and sends no notifications. It shows a message on the chart, writes the same message once to the Experts journal and raises one alert. It does not close or manage trades it opened on that account earlier. Those trades keep the stop loss and take profit already set at your broker.

The robot never contacts our website. There is no licence server and no online check.

The lock stops casual sharing, and it stops a robot running on the wrong account by mistake. It does not stop a determined cracker, and it does not stop a trade copier that copies an allowed account's trades to other accounts. Each robot file is unique to its purchase and shows its build reference when it starts.

The lock uses the account number only. Account numbers are unique at each broker, not across all brokers, so in rare cases an account with the same number at another broker would also run the robot.

10. Your licence

We give you a personal licence to use the robot on the accounts named in your purchase, on any computer or VPS you use. You may keep copies for your own backup. The licence has no end date. It ends only if the purchase is refunded or you break this section. The licence is not exclusive, and you cannot transfer it to anyone else.

You may not:

  • share, sell, rent, lend or publish the robot file, or give it to anyone else;
  • copy the robot's trades to accounts that are not named in your purchase, whether by a trade copier, a signal service or any other means;
  • remove or get round the account lock, or decompile or change the file, except where the law allows it;
  • use the robot to manage trading for other people.

We own the builder, the core library inside every robot, and the robot files. Your rules stay yours, and you can download a copy of them at any time. You allow us to store your strategy and use it to check, build and rebuild your robots. Our staff open a strategy only for a support request you started. Each time is logged with the reason, and you can see that log.

If a purchase is refunded after the robot was ready to download, its licence ends. You must then stop using the robot and delete your copies.

11. Free test copy

When the builder offers a free test copy, it is your robot with no account numbers in its lock, so it runs only in the Strategy Tester. It is free and limited to the number per day shown in the builder. We delete our copy of it after 30 days. Section 10 applies to it, except that it runs only in the Strategy Tester.

When the builder does not offer a test copy, you can test the robot in the Strategy Tester once you have it.

12. Updates and rebuilds

For at least two years after your robot is first ready to download, we rebuild it free when that is needed to keep it working as described. That covers a safety fix in our core library, and a MetaTrader 5 update that stops the file from loading. A rebuild does not change your strategy or your account numbers. We email you when it is ready and tell you what it fixes and what happens if you keep the old file.

You choose whether to use a rebuilt file. If you keep using the old one, we are not responsible for a fault that the rebuild would have fixed.

The robot must match the description shown before you bought it and work as described in the MetaTrader 5 versions listed in section 14. This is your legal guarantee of conformity. If the robot does not, tell us and we will fix or rebuild it free within a reasonable time. If we cannot, or we do not, you can have a price reduction or end the purchase and get your money back.

These rights last at least two years from delivery where the law of your country sets a time limit. Nothing in these terms takes away or limits your legal rights as a consumer.

Beyond those rights, we may give a refund at our discretion. We do not give a refund because a backtest or live trading did not go as you hoped.

14. What it works with

MetaTrader 5 desktop for Windows, the official MetaTrader 5 app for Mac and MQL5 VPS run our robots. The MetaTrader 5 phone and web apps cannot run robots. Your MetaTrader 5 must be build 5660 or newer, because an older terminal refuses a newer robot file. Your broker must allow automated trading, and Algo Trading must be switched on in MetaTrader 5.

15. Trading risk

Trading leveraged products such as forex and CFDs carries a high level of risk and you can lose more than your deposit. TheTradingRobot is software; it does not provide investment advice or manage your account. Past and hypothetical performance is not indicative of future results.

We do not choose strategies, recommend them, run robots for you or place trades on your account. Every rule in your robot is one you set. A robot follows your rules, and it cannot make a bad strategy good. A limit stops new trades. It cannot stop prices from jumping, so a loss can sometimes go past the limit you set. A backtest is hypothetical, and we make no promise about trading results or about any prop firm's decisions.

You are responsible for your broker, your account, your risk settings and for keeping an eye on your robot.

16. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for trading losses or missed trades, for your broker's prices or execution, for MetaTrader, for your computer, VPS or internet connection, for a prop firm's decisions, or for the rules and settings you chose. As far as the law allows, our total liability for a robot is limited to the price you paid for it.

17. Closing an account

You can stop using a robot whenever you like. If you delete your account, we delete your robots and their files, so you can no longer download them; download any copies you want to keep first. A robot you already downloaded keeps working on its accounts. A purchase that is not yet ready to download is cancelled and refunded in full.

We may close your account if you break section 10, and we tell you why by email. If we close your account, we refund any purchase that is not yet ready to download. A robot file you already downloaded cannot be switched off by us, and we do not try.

18. Complaints

If something is wrong, email us at support@thetradingrobot.com or use our contact page at thetradingrobot.com/contact. We answer every complaint by email.

19. Your personal data

Our privacy notice at thetradingrobot.com/privacy explains how we use your personal data, including your account numbers.

20. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for future purchases. Each purchase is governed by the version you accepted when you bought. Your order confirmation names that version and attaches it.

21. Law and courts

22. General

If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. We may transfer this contract to a company that takes over TheTradingRobot.com, and your rights under it stay the same.
