The rules, in plain words

Each rule is one or more blocks in the builder. Every number will be changeable before you check the robot.

When
Every time a 15-minute bar closes.
Buy if
The RSI (14 bars) is below 30, and the last closed bar is above the 200-bar EMA.
Sell if
The RSI (14 bars) is above 70, and the last closed bar is below the 200-bar EMA.
Then
It opens one trade with a stop loss 250 points away and a take profit 400 points away.
Early exit
A buy is closed as soon as the RSI crosses above 50. A sell is closed as soon as the RSI crosses below 50.
Trade size
Each trade risks 0.5% of the account, and is never bigger than 2 lots.

Its safety limits

When a limit is reached, the robot stops opening new trades. You can change the numbers, but you cannot delete the limits.

  • Daily loss limit2%

After a 2% loss in one day, counted from the equity at 00:00 UTC, it opens no new trades until the next day.

  • Stop loss on every trade250 points

Each trade closes by itself if the price moves 250 points against it.

  • Most trades open at once1

It waits for its trade to close before it opens another.

  • Trades per day2

After two trades in one day it waits for the next day.

  • Wait between trades4 bars

After a trade closes it waits four bars before the next one.

  • Biggest trade size2 lots

A trade bigger than this is not placed.

  • Spread at most25 points

When the spread is wider than this, it waits.

What it does not do

Every robot here does only what its blocks say. These are the things people often expect from a robot that this one does not do.

A limit stops new trades. It cannot stop prices from jumping, so a loss can sometimes go past the limit you set. More on the safety page.

RSI Mean Reversion

Not this

  • It trades only with the long-term trend: no buys below the 200-bar average, no sells above it.
  • It holds one trade at a time, and never makes a trade bigger after a loss.
  • It does not add to a losing trade.
  • Past results do not tell you what will happen next.

Questions about this robot

More answers on the questions page.

What is the RSI?

The relative strength index is a number from 0 to 100 that compares recent gains with recent losses. Below 30 is usually read as oversold, above 70 as overbought. This robot uses it over the last 14 bars.

What does mean reversion mean?

The idea that a price which has moved a long way in a short time often comes part of the way back. This robot buys after a sharp fall and sells after a sharp rise, but only on the side of the long-term trend.

Why does it close at RSI 50?

Once the RSI is back in the middle, the move the robot was waiting for has happened. Closing there takes what the move gave instead of waiting for the take profit, which the price may never reach.
