Example robot for MetaTrader 5
London Breakout
At 08:00 London time it places one order above and one below the night's price range on GBPUSD. The first order to fill cancels the other, and everything is closed before the weekend.

The rules, in plain words
Each rule is one or more blocks in the builder. Every number will be changeable before you check the robot.
- When
- At 08:00 London time, Monday to Friday.
- What it looks at
- The highest high and the lowest low of the last 8 closed 1-hour bars: the range the price made between 00:00 and 08:00.
- Then
- It places a buy stop order 20 points above that high and a sell stop order 20 points below that low. Both orders expire at 16:00. When one of them fills, the other is cancelled.
- Exit
- The trade has a stop loss 250 points away and a take profit at one and a half times the risk (1.5R).
- Trade size
- Each trade risks 1% of the account, and is never bigger than 3 lots.
- The weekend
- Every Friday at 20:00 London time it closes any open trade and deletes any pending order, and places nothing until Monday at 00:00.
Its safety limits
When a limit is reached, the robot stops opening new trades. You can change the numbers, but you cannot delete the limits.
Daily loss limit2.5%
After a 2.5% loss in one day, counted from the balance at 00:00, it opens no new trades until the next day.
Stop loss on every trade250 points
Each trade closes by itself if the price moves 250 points against it.
Trades per day1
One trade a day: once an order fills, the other is cancelled and nothing else is placed that day.
Most trades open at once1
It never holds two trades.
Biggest trade size3 lots
A trade bigger than this is not placed.
Spread at most20 points
When the spread is wider than this at 08:00, it places no orders.
Closed for the weekendFriday 20:00
Open trades are closed and pending orders deleted every Friday at 20:00 London time.
What it does not do
Every robot here does only what its blocks say. These are the things people often expect from a robot that this one does not do.
A limit stops new trades. It cannot stop prices from jumping, so a loss can sometimes go past the limit you set. More on the safety page.
London Breakout
Not this
- It places orders once a day and never chases the price after 16:00.
- It holds one trade at a time, and never makes a trade bigger after a loss.
- It holds nothing over the weekend.
- Past results do not tell you what will happen next.

Questions about this robot
More answers on the questions page.
What is a stop order?
A pending order that becomes a trade only if the price reaches it. A buy stop sits above the current price; a sell stop sits below it. Here they bracket the night's range, so the robot trades the direction the price breaks out in.
What happens if neither order fills?
Both orders expire at 16:00 London time and the robot waits for the next morning. Nothing is traded that day.
Can I use it on another pair or another time?
Yes. The symbol, the time, the range length, the distance above and below it, and every limit are blocks you can change in the builder.
